The bottom of the pit feels slippery, vast and yet too narrow, orbiting away from the life you desire.
It’s not as simple as feeling sad. It’s more than that.
Confusing. Foggy. Zapping. Debilitating. Numb. Darkness. Unexplainable.
I remember feeling physically exhausted, emotionally destroyed, mentally reeling, and even spiritually questioning. Like I had a neon sign over my head flashing, “failure, liar, unworthy”.
The National Institute of Health reports “major depression is one of the most common mental disorders in the United States.” An estimated 17.3 million adults in the United States had at least one major depressive episode. The prevalence of major depressive episode was higher among adult females compared to males.
You are not alone. It is not your fault. Depression is a disease. It won’t just go away.
Don’t stay there.
